Today's a big day for critics awards, as four of the biggest/most important give out their winners: the Boston Film Critics, The LA Film Critics Association, the New York Online Critics, and the American Film Institute. In a year that has thus far failed to find its Hurt Locker/Slumdog Millionaire/No Country for Old Men, today's big 4 could either help produce a clearer front-runner, or simply add more confusion to the mix. Frankly, I'd rather the latter happen; the Oscars are always more fun when they're less predictable, and these past few years, the top award was never much of a surprise by the time Oscar night rolled around. I won't devote entire posts to each of the big four, but rather keep one post (this one) with updates for each as they are announced. Announcements won't start for at least a few hours, but here's our basic framework:
PS: A pair of asterisks will be placed by the most recently announced award from each group.
