WHOA. Just when all the "There Will Be Blood" hype seemed to die....it came roaring back to life.

Director: Paul Thomas Anderson, "There Will Be Blood"
Runner-up: Julian Schnabel, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"

Again, this is a surprise considering that PTA isn't the most "Academy-friendly" director.

Actress: Marion Cotillard, "La Vie En Rose"
Runner-up: Anamaria Marinca "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days"
good for Marion!!!

Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, "There Will Be Blood"
Runner-up: Frank Langella, "Starting Out In The Evening"

There will be awards.......but where in the hell did this Langella performance come from?

Screenplay: Tamara Jenkins, "The Savages"
Runner-up: Paul Thomas Anderson for "There Will Be Blood"

Interesting..

Supporting actress: Amy Ryan for "Gone Baby Gone" and "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead"

now I'm 100% sure...she's in the race.

Supporting actor: Vlad Ivanov, "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days"
Runner Up: Hal Holbrook - Into the Wild

And we never heard from this performance again. The end.

Runner Up: "Sicko" directed by Michael Moore

Production design:Jack Fisk, "There Will Be Blood"
Runner Up: Dante Ferretti, "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

odd I thought surely something like Sweeney Todd would be more popular in this dept...

Music: Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, "Once"
Jonny Greenwood, "There Will Be Blood"
FINALLY!!!!!!

Cinematography: Janusz Kaminski, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"
Robert Elswit, "There Will Be Blood"

New generation: Sarah Polley, "Away From Her"

good choice.

Douglas Edwards Indie Award: "Colossal Youth" directed by Pedro Costa

There Will Be Blood just threw itself headlong into the Oscar race, and the whole affair just got more wild and confusing. No front runners = one hell of an exciting awards season...
